HMS Mohawk (F125) was a Tribal-class frigate of the Royal Navy.
She was launched on the on 5 April 1962 and commissioned on the on 29 November 1963.
Later that year, Mohawk, along with her sister-ship Zulu, was part of the eight-ship Group 6 deployment, led by the cruiser Tiger, that deployed to the Far East, visiting a variety of ports in fly-the-flag visits.

Type 81 'Tribal' Class Frigate "HMS Zulu" was laid down by Alex Stephens & Sons of Govan on the 13th of December 1960 and launched on 3rd July 1962.
Zulu was refitted at Chatham to take part in the Falklands war but saw no action.

Due to delays in the development and procurement of the Seacat, all the ships except Zulu had single 40mm AA guns installed in place of the launchers and were gradually refitted as the equipment became available.
A detachment of Royal Marines was carried with their weapons and equipment, the concept being first tried out with HMS Loch Killisport and having proved a success, was adopted on the Tribal and most other frigates as well.
Although there were rumours that Venezuela was interested in buying some of the class, the deal never materialised and it's a shame that the modernisation could not have gone forward with the ships being retained in Royal Navy service as the ships had been relegated to disposal well before the end of their useful lives.

For anti aircraft operations they were armed with two single 4.5 inch guns (one forward, one aft) which had been removed from scrapped C Class Destroyers, and two quadruple Seacat Surface-to-Air (SAM) missile launchers.
However only one vessel, Zulu, was actually completed with Seacat, so the other six vessels were completed with two 40mm Bofor guns and were fitted with Seacat during refits.
There is little info on the Type 81 Tribal Class Frigate "HMS Zulu", here is a model of her by Deans Marine in the UK.

The crew of the first PBY drops four depth charges that damages the sub; a few minutes later, the crew of the second aircraft drops four more depth charges from an altitude of 50 feet.

In keeping with their operational role, a great deal of flying was now done at night, with lesser amounts carried out during the day.
June was a typical month, where the squadron participated in several exercises, including ZULU and TRACK TOIL, and worked on its shooting skills through cine camera missions against T-33's towing the usual target flags.
The official date of disbandment was 1200 hours on 31 December 1962, closing yet another chapter in the history of 423 Squadron.

Albert Adey was secound class stoker on board the HMS Eagle when she got torpeado'd.He was a surviver.Lived to have seven boys.Six of them live in California.

On return to GERMANY I was sent as part of a Regimental exchange, to be attached to HMS ZULU a navel frigate for 3 months.
I served in 49 Inkerman Battery as BK from August 1960 to August 1962 in Cyprus and August 1962 to April 1963 at Pembrooke Dock.
I also served as second in command of 42 Regiment R.A. from January 1966 to April 1968 in Lippstadt, Germany with 49 Battery as one of the Batteries within the Regiment.
