HP Calculators: HP Feature story (September 2006)
The HP 39gs is a graphing calculator that high school students and teachers can rely on to square off against complex math problems and perform other sophisticated operations.
HP was the first major manufacturer to offer a calculator with this feature.
HP Solve reduces input time by letting you write and solve equations for any variable without having to re-enter or modify the original equation.

  HP 9100A/B
When people first encounter HP's RPN calculators, they often wonder about the stack labels X, Y, Z, and T. The HP 9100 had a three level stack with registers X, Y, and Z. X was called the keyboard register since numbers were keyed into it.
HP combined these ideas, plus elements from their early computers (HP-2114/2116) and displays, and added programmability, printing, etc. For more details see: How the Model 9100A Was Developed.
After the HP 9100 was demonstrated to Bill Hewlett he suggested that they should make one in one tenth the volume, ten times as fast and at one tenth the cost.

The HP 49g vs. TI-89 Graphing Calculator Comparison
Neither of these calculators are produced anymore, being replaced by the TI-89 Titanium and the HP 49g+.
HP has promised an Advanced Users Guide which will be on the internet and describe in detail the more complex aspects of the calculator.
The HP 49g and the TI-89/92+ have FlashROM, so they are user upgradable (provided you buy a cable from their respective makers).

lf319, Applications: RPN calculators for Linux
Most of those HP calculators are today collectors items and sell now for much more than their original price.
RPN calculators use a stack and all mathematical operations are executed immediately on the lower level of the stack.
This calculator has all the functionallity of a real hp67 but it is completley re-written and independent of the hp67 code.

 HP 9810/20/30
Unlike the HP 9100, the HP 9810A was designed from the start for expandability so that customers could easily spend more than the cost of the base calculator on options such as plug-in function blocks (actually they were option ROMs with more language code inside), extra memory for register and program storage, and peripherals.
The printer’s inclusion in the HP 9810A marked the start of the Loveland Calculator Division’s love affair with thermal printers that lasted well into the 1980s, until the ascendancy of thermal-inkjet technology that was initially developed by HP Labs in the mid 1970s and is still in use today.
HP’s use of BASIC as a programming language in the HP 9830A may not seem revolutionary from the perspective of the 21st century, where we’ve lived with a quarter-century of Microsoft BASIC in its various incarnations, but back in 1972 BASIC wasn’t all that common.

 Science/hp calculators on space shuttle
Without knowing who they were, he demonstrated the TI-59 and the then-new HP 41, pushing the 41 because it was so cool.
Second, NASA had HP weld shut the AC adapter hatch and the the expansion ports, to keep any static electricity from leaking in or out of the machine.
He looked at the TI-59 and the HP 41, the most powerful units available, and decided that the 41's alphanumeric display capability made it the clear winner.

An HP-41C (1981): This was the first of the HP hand calculators to use an LCD display rather than an LED.
The calculator itself is remarkably expandable (4 expansion ports) and clearly one of the most significant calculator of the early 1980's.
An HP-11C (1985): The HP 10 through 16 series is an interesting contrast to the HP-41C/CV/CX - more of a replacement for the 30 series and a traditional calculator (and at $130, a lot cheaper).

 The future of HP calculators
The Saturn processor in the HP 48G is probably faster at BCD floating point math than the 68000-derivative processor in the TI-92, but for non-numeric problems (including symbolic algebra and calculus), the 68000 is probably the winner.
HP has flirted in recent years with non-RPN calculators such as the 17B and 19B, but I must surmise that they realized that they had alienated loyal customers since they added RPN capabilites back in with the 17BII and 19BII.
I am personally not the least bit opposed to HP making efforts to increase the accessibility of future high-end HP calculators to the masses by making more capabilities usable with algebraic entry, as long as they don't forget their loyal customer base who want RPN.

Edit: An interesting fact is that HP calculators still sell for higher dollar values on Ebay than their original retail values.
I seem to recall reading somewhere a while ago that while the 49G+ used an ARM processor, it still used the original HP calculator OS written for the Saturn chip used in the HP48 series and ran in an emulation mode on the ARM processor.

As opposed to later HP calculators, it has an x^y function, not y^x, and the trigonometric functions work in degrees only.
At first, HP thought they would only make a few HP-35s for their own engineers, as no-one else would be interested.
Within each section there are general remarks on the whole family, followed by the individual calculators - the model number and the HP name for it are given, then a description, and in some cases a few notes on its features.

Due to its simple operation for key financial calculations, the calculator long ago became the de facto standard among financial professionals - for example, Goldman Sachs and Bear Stearns issue HP-12Cs to the members of each new incoming class of its analysts and associates.
However, HP's market research found in the late 80's that the users did not trust results obtained too quickly and so the CPU speed was never improved from the original 200 or so KHZ.
