The hPods are based on the 4G iPods so only now can HP start to promote it.
Interestingly, MacRumors reports that the hPod's "body color is expected to be 'HP Blue,'" like the delicate corpse-colored prototype that Carly Fiorina held aloft when she broke news of the partnership.
If our own sources are correct (and we'd bet a shiny nickel that they are-- well, maybe a Canadian nickel), hPods won't be blue after all, but will look practically identical to Apple's 4th-gen models except for the HP logo on the back.

I have no idea yet how the hPod will be different but the major things I might expect would be a different case and dropping FW support (or even just the included cable).
HP and Apple initially announced that the 'hPod' would hit shelves by the end of the summer, and this target was confirmed during Apple's recent third-quarter conference call.
I would imagine the hPod as having the 60GB Toshiba drives in them based on the release and the rhetoric.

The bottom line is pretty predictable; Mac users should buy iPods; Windows users can take their pick, unless they have HP-branded PCs, in which case some additional HP-only sw is a nice add.
With hPod there will be some iPod overlap/competiton, but the HP deal on balance is designed to bring in customers Apple couldn't reach on its own.

I'd get the 20 gig Hpod, particularly if you own a PC.
Alternatively of course, you might also want to consider waiting til Jan 11th when Apple is widely expected to launch the next generation Mini which should have a 5GB or 6GB HDD.
That should be cheaper than the hPod and more value for money than the current Mini.
