HS Nearchos retains its SQQ-23 sonar suite, consisting of a keel and a bow sonar, while in the other three, the SQS-23 sonar was replaced by the Raytheon DE-1191.
HS Ipiros was the last of the trio of Knox-class frigates transferred to the HN from the US, in the early '90s, to remain in service, up to this day.
HS Formion is the second of the quartet of C.F.Adams DDGs transferred from the US, also in the same period, to be withdrawn from service, following HS Themistoklis (D-221), while in service remain HS Kimon (D-218) and HS Nearchos (D-219), ex-USS Semmes and USS Waddell, respectively.

Four ships of this class were transferred to the Greek Navy in 1992.
Three have since been decommissioned and the other, the HS Kimon, is the only Charles F. Adams-class ship still in active service.
It is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2004.

DDG-23 was sunk after being hit by a MM-38 Exocet SSM, fired from 32,000 yds away, by HS Blessas (P-21), two Penguin SSMs, fired from 22,000 yds away, by HS Starakis (P-29) and two Mk 8 torpedos, launched one each,by HS Lelaps (P-54) and HS Typhon (P-56).

Built by the New York Shipbuilding Corp. She was launched on Juyly 29th 1961 and commissioned to the U.S. Navy on December the 15th 1962.
One of four ships of this class in the Hellenic Navy (THEMISTOKLIS, KIMON, NEARCHOS and FORMION).
The Greek Flag was hoisted on October 1st 1992 in San Diego California, (her first CO. was Lt Cdr D.Goussis HN), at the same time as on FORMION.

The Guam ARG, commanded by CAPT William D. Young, Commander, Amphibious Squadron 2, will relieve the USS Wasp (LHD 1) ARG.
In December, the battle group and ARG participated in Joint Task Force Exercise 96-1, their "final examination" before deployment, and the culmination of a year of intense preparation.
During the three day exercise period, the force conducted shiphandling training, air defense exercises, surface and undersea engagements, and a live-fire gunnery exercise against a towed airborne target in the Gulf of Cadiz and the Strait of Gibraltar.

Err, but I DO let him make them in any size he wants (was just hoping there'd perhaps be a larger version of this, to complement- cuz when units are resized afterwards with steph's program, they lose lots of the detail- which in this particular case would be a huge shame).
