Haaretz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In comparison to the other daily Hebrew newspapers, Maariv and Yediot Aharonot, Haaretz is relatively high brow, with longer articles, smaller print, fewer pictures and daily science and literature pages.
Its views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict tend to be leftist, particularly the reporting of Amira Hass and, to a lesser extent, Gideon Levy.
The online versions of Haaretz, both the Hebrew and English versions, are widely recognized to be some of the most reliable and most regularly updated news sites in Israel.

Haaretz is an Israeli newspaper, founded in 1919.
Haaretz's views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are leftist and represent the politicial agenda of Meretz (Israeli Social Democartic Left party) and the dovish part of the Israeli Labor Party (Ha-Avoda).

Haaretz doesnt care about our children's right to an education - their ownly concern is protecting the socialist and ossified teachers union.
Haaretz has a raging obsession with a trivial coincidence and the Israeli public must be made aware of the Left's contortions of malicious slurs.
Haaretz does not comprehend the survival instinct and is full of pathos for the Pali-murderers.

Arutz Sheva - Israel National News
Haaretz has a long history of running lurid stories about the alleged abuses of Arabs by “settlers”.
Haaretz’ Amira Hass got convicted in court for libel a few years back because of one such story that turned out to be a fabrication.
The opening paragraph of the story began: "A woman soldier was yesterday charged with forcing a Palestinian woman at gunpoint to drink a highly toxic liquid that made her blind and that caused external and internal burns that needed hospital treatment.

Haaretz's Travesty of Language   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
When Haaretz isn’t referring to terrorists of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, or the various PLO offshoots as “activists,” it calls them “militants”—a word that connotes, or used to connote, hard-boiled labor leaders and the like.
It struck me that during and since the orange-stars uproar, Haaretz, quietly and seemingly unnoticed, continues with its outrageous travesty of language in which cold-blooded genocidists are referred to in “neutral,” “objective,” politically-correct terms.
Haaretz’s use of delicate terminology for today’s Nazis is no less an offense against truth, against the memory of what Jews have suffered, than the Gaza Jews’ use of the orange stars—arguably—was.

She told Haaretz that she decided to convert to Islam not because she lived with a Muslim man, but because she has found her truth in Islam.
A veteran Shara'aite litigator has told Haaretz that until a few years ago he did not encounter great difficulties in registering conversions and marriages that were ruled on by the Shara'aite court.
In his experience, he said, until about three years ago, a Jew that converted to Islam was given a hearing at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, or at a rabbinical court, to ascertain the decision was made out of their own free will, and in an attempt to dissuade them.

Eyeing Iran Reactors, Israel Seeks U.S. Bunker Bombs
The Haaretz newspaper quoted a Pentagon report as saying the planned procurement sought 'to maintain Israel's qualitative advantage and advance U.S. strategic and tactical interests.' A GBU-27 laser guided 'bunker buster' bomb is seen in this undated file photo.
Haaretz quoted Israeli government sources as saying the sale, including 4,500 other guided munitions, was not expected to go through until after the U.S. elections in November.
Earlier this month, Haaretz said Israel sought to obtain the U.S.-made, one-ton "bunker buster" bombs for a possible future strike against arch-foe Iran's atomic development program, which the Jewish state considers a strategic threat.

In The Jerusalem Post, where pans of Haaretz appear regularly enough to qualify for their own section, Schocken?s comments were written off as just another of Haaretz?s extreme left twitches.
According to The Post, Schocken?s squawking was further proof that Haaretz, a Zionist stronghold at the time of its founding in 1919 by a group of Russian journalists, had strayed too far to the left.

The ultra-secular Israeli world that is represented by the journalistic cesspool known as Haaretz did its sadistic best to add to the pain, to add to its long and ignoble record of hatred for Judaism.
Two weeks before the withdrawal began, Haaretz editorialized that the Jews in Gaza were “criminals.” In a follow-up editorial the newspaper suggested that the government show an “iron fist” toward these Jews.
Haaretz is, of course, wrong on Jewish law, as it is whenever it sees fit to offer moral judgment.

New evidence regarding the bitter end of Gat, the largest and most important Philistine city, was recently unearthed at a dig at Tel Zafit near the Masmia intersection in the Lachish region.
Haaretz reports that "The archaeologists say that findings at the site reveal the unique method employed by the Arameans to seize the city." The "unique methods" apparently involved digging a large trench or moat to isolate the city.
However, this is the sort of thing that would count as good cirucmstantial evidence to suggest that the attackers were in fact Arameans.

Sharon's brain disorder is called cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), which is diagnosed by brain scans, the doctor close to the case told Haaretz.

 Nushworld: You Disappoint Me Haaretz
Today's Haaretz (June 1) featured an editorial which used the plebiscite in France as a strong justification for opposing a referendum here in Israel on the Disengagement.
As it is, I find it strange that Haaretz never comments on international affairs unless it has relevance to Israel.
If Haaretz views itself as the "thinking person's newspaper", it should be able to make its voice heard on international developments, in the same way as any other quality newspaper around the world.

The setting for the comments is today's Jewish holiday of the Ninth of Av which commemorates, among other tragedies, the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem the year 70 C.E. The editorial is worth quoting at length:

Respondent says that "ha’aretz" in Hebrew literally means "the land" and figuratively refers to "the homeland", that is, the country of Israel.
Haaretz means "the land" in Hebrew and is not a registered trademark.
It is well-established precedent within the UDRP that trademark holders in one country who failed to get the simplest and shortest ".com" version of their name do not necessarily have a right to take away the name from a registrant in another country when that name is generic or has multiple other legitimate uses.
