Justice Habibur Rahman was named as head of the non-party, caretaker government after Khaleda, facing mounting opposition pressure to quit, had asked the president to start the process of transferring power.
President Abdur Rahman Biswas dissolved the parliament chosen in February 15 elections and appointed Habibur Rahman as Chief Adviser in the new administration.
Rahman's principal job would be holding new elections within 90 days of his appointment but he told reporters on Saturday night that his immediate responsibility was to restore law and order.

Behrampore, Jan. 5: Police swooped on the house of Habibur Rahman, the army jawan arrested from the Rajouri sector in Jammu and Kashmir for suspected ISI links, at Pathanpara in Malihati village under Salar police station on Friday evening but did not find anything incriminating.
Habibur, a jawan of the signals regiment posted in Rajouri, was picked up four days ago.
A senior police official said they had information that there was enough documents in the possession of Habibur and his father to crack open a widespread ISI network in Murshidabad and the other border districts.

June 26 : Shahrasti thana police arrested three doctors and a health assistant of Chitoshi Bazar Grameen Kalyan Shastha Kendra on June 23 last in connection with a GR case and another case filed with Shahrasti thana by one Jahangir Hossain as his son Habibur Rahman, died after circumcision.
All the three doctors and health assistant were sent to jail hajat on Saturday by the court of Magistrate (Ist class) Abul Hasnat Humayun Kabir who rejected their bail petition.
According to the police source, Jahangir Hossain brought his only son Habibur Rahman (8 years) to Chitoshi Bazar Grameen Kalyan Shastha Kendra for circumcision from his home at Bernaiya at around 12-30 PM on June 23 last.
