  Hachette Book Group USA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hachette Book Group USA (HBG) is a publishing company owned by Hachette Livre, the largest publishing company in France.
At the time of the acquisition, Hachette Livre split Time Warner Book Group into two parts: Hachette Book Group USA to focus on the American market, and Little, Brown Book Group for the UK.
Under the terms of Hachette Livre's acquisition, HBG has the rights to use certain Time Warner trademarks in its marketing, although HBG is not itself affiliated with Time Warner.

Hachette Livre, part of the media division of French corporate giant Groupe Lagardère, announced recently that it would launch two new science fiction and fantasy imprints over the coming eighteen months.
Expanding Hachette Livre UK’s Orbit science fiction imprint, the company will launch Orbit USA as part of the Hachette Book Group USA and Orbit Australia as part of Hachette Livre Australia.
The Orbit announcement is part of Hachette Livre’s global moves to rationalize its international publishing assets following the Time Warner acquisition, which includes the recent decision in Australia to amalgamate Lothian Books with Hachette’s Children’s Publishing.

Following Hachette Livre’s acquisition of the Time Warner Book Group on 31 March 2006, Lothian Books, as part of that acquisition, is to expand its Children’s Book Publishing in new offices (to be found) in Melbourne, and thus, all Hachette’s Australian Children’s Publishing will take place in Melbourne from 1 July 2006.
Helen Chamberlin and her existing complement of talented staff are being retained to spearhead an exciting period of growth for Hachette’s Children’s Publishing, which will be branded with the Lothian imprint.

WITH ITS SURPRISE purchase of the New York and London operations of the Time Warner Book Group, Lagardère-owned Hachette Livre has become the world's third largest publisher (behind Pearson and Bertlesmann) and the largest in the UK, with turnover of £266m and a market share 2% ahead of Random House.
Coming in Headline's twentieth anniversary year, the move is further testimony to the success of Hely Hutchinson's original vision and his stewardship of the publishing group in the years since.
"Our two main objectives for the Hachette Livre UK group have been to find a like-minded sister company in the United States, and equally to bring Hachette Livre to new prominence in the UK, Australia and New Zealand," Hely Hutchinson said in the formal statement.
