		Indefinite curfew was first imposed in the township recently after it witnessed outbreak of ethnic violence, but the restrictions were gradually relaxed upon improvement in the situation.

	Assam minister's son shot dead
		Normendu Langthasa, son of Assam's Veterinary Minister G C Langthasa, was shot dead in the hill town of Haflong on Monday afternoon by unidentified men, forcing the district administration of North Cachar Hills district to impose curfew.

		On the map it is a short distance from Garampani to Shillong and the bus from Haflong to Guwahati actually goes through Garampani.
		As Krys says in his book you can get from Silchar (where there is an airport) to Haflong but it must be a terrible road because this is a continuation of the road from Haflong to Ratzol which is very bad.
		I didn't register at Haflong but there was an official looking man on the bus, and a man from "intelligence" came searching for me quite quickly and I had some forms to fill in.
