 HAGANAH
The members of the Haganah also developed networks for the clandestine acquisition of arms within the British army, and they cared for Jewish survivors and refugees in the countries of Europe in which they were stationed at the close of the war.
At the center of the resistance activities was the "illegal" mass immigration from Europe and North Africa, with the armed struggle limited to attempts to score direct hits against the operational devices installed to interfere with "illegal" immigration (radar devices, boats that deported immigrants to Cyprus, etc.).
The name of the Haganah was incorporated into the official name of the army of the new state: Æeva Haganah le-Israel (Israel Defense Forces).

Although hardly anyone in the yishuv knew of the extent of Hitler's extermination of the Jews in Europe in 1941, everyone was aware that he was brutal to the Jews and thus the Jews in the yishuv began to prepare for a worst-case scenario of a Nazi invasion.
Haganah men of course continued to maintain alertness for the possibility of Arab riots during the war, which would have been of far less consequence than a German invasion.

Haganah was a Jewish self-defence organisation set up by the Jewish Agency to protect Jewish settlers from Palestinian attacks and to organise illegal immigration: it ultimately became the Israeli army.
The British mandate administration did not recognise Haganah, being wary of having an underground guerilla army in the country, but during the 1930s tolerated it, given the growing resistance of the Palestinians to the establishment of a Jewish homeland and their own inability to protect Jewish settlements.
During the Palestinian uprising of 1936-9 there was unofficial co-operation between the British armed forces and Haganah, the British sometimes arming the groups, although possession of weapons was officially illegal.

Avnerre, advisor, Israeli Broadcasting Authority, personal communication, January 3, 1992).
If the Haganah was the primary illegal military organization destined to play an important part in Israel's political and military future, two other organizations that were also broadcasters discussed herein were seen as renegades in the Jewish struggle to drive the British from Palestine and establish a Jewish state.
Haganah broadcasts were almost always less strident than those of the other two groups because Haganah leaders saw their organization as being synonymous with the government and the legal broadcasting organization of the new Jewish state.
