Hahn further testified that by "extremely high explosive" he meant "the ones that do travel at 22, 24 thousand feet per second." Hahn was "certain" that this testimony contrasting dynamite with RDX and PETN was elicited to anticipate and contradict the Confessor's story should it be introduced by the defense.
Hahn told us that he ignored the literature when he testified in the second trial, because the pitting depicted in the literature (pits with a diameter of.1 to.5 millimeters) was "vastly different in dimension" from the pitting in the Avianca case (pits with a diameter of 1/8 to 1/4 inch).
Hahn admitted that it might have been more accurate for him to say that the injuries to the bodies were consistent with his theory of how the fuel-air explosion came about--that is, that there was a preexisting condition (the continuous hot fire) which could have led to a fuel-air explosion.

 USDOJ/OIG FBI Labs Report
According to a memorandum Hahn wrote in 1995, he advised the prosecutor [in 1994] that neither was the damage to the aircraft consistent with dynamite, based on the pitting and cratering that was present on the fuselage, nor was the damage consistent with the functioning of a single dynamite device of five kilos in size.
Hahn believed that large pits, as in the Avianca case, are indicative of a VOD of about 20,000 feet per second or more because he had never seen pitting of that size or anything closely resembling that except with explosives in the range of 20,000 ft/second detonation velocity.
Hahn was qualified to render opinions based only on his experience, which did not justify his attempt to correlate the pitting with the VOD of the explosive.

21/6/2005 -- Pollution Task Force to Meet for Last Time on L.A. Port
Toxic air linked to port operations hovers over freeways and rail lines that stretch from the port to the rail yards of East Los Angeles and the storage warehouses of the Inland Empire.
Matt Haber, deputy director of the air division at the regional headquarters of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, said his agency plans to support the recommendations, adding that the task force "shows amazing leadership in coming this far." He said it could serve as a national model for reducing pollution.
Port air pollution was hardly an issue in the spring of 2001 when Hahn, a San Pedro resident, began stumping for votes in the Los Angeles Harbor area.

Welcome To Air Cargo World -- Features
Air cargo exhibitions are filled with the stands of hopeful alternative cargo hubs - Vatry, Vitoria, Hahn and Ostend, to name but a few.
That was a key factor in boosting Hahn's flown tonnage 80 percent to 66,145 tonnes in 2004, and led the airport to hope it might become the hub for all 10 of the 747 freighters British Airways routes via Germany each week.
The other fan of Hahn is Air France, which has a trucking hub there, adding some 125,000 tonnes of cargo a year to Hahn's volume - extra tonnage that often creeps into the airport's figures in airport league tables.

Mayor Hahn's clean air task force - which includes top air regulators and industry representatives - met for the last time to complete its recommendations on how to fulfill Hahn's pledge and roll back pollution to 2001 levels at the fast-growing port.
"If we're going to have any hope of cleaning the air, it's got to start at the port." But implementing the clean-air plan could take up to 20 years and cost at least $11 billion, which would be have to be shared by industry, the port and government, officials said.
