	Haicheng - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Haicheng (Simplified Chinese: 海城; Traditional Chinese: 海城; pinyin: Hǎichéng) is a county-level city of Anshan City, Liaoning Province, in the People's Republic of China.
		Haicheng is remarkable and well-known for its success in Chinese earthquake prediction research.
		Other than the 1975 Haicheng earthquake prediction, another successful earthquake prediction was made a week before the M5.4 Gushan-Pianling Earthquake in Haicheng and nearby Xiuyan city.

		The 7.3 Haicheng, Liaoning earthquake on February 4, 1975, is as famous as the 7.8 Tangshan earthquake in the would.
		A group of international scientists called the Haicheng Earthquake Study Delegation visited Haicheng, and announced that the prediction is "An extraordinary achievement", and "The first major shock to have been accurately predicted anywhere in the world" [1].

		In the winter of 1975, Chinese officials had ordered the evacuation of the city of Haicheng (population about 1 million) in the Liaoning Province of northeast China, based on reports from scientists and lay observers in a wide region of unusual observations.
		The earthquake caused an estimated 250,000 fatalities and 164,000 injured.
		Their report concluded that the 1975 Haicheng prediction was based mainly on the pronounced foreshock sequence; other aspects of the described methodology were more difficult to assess.
