Hail Mary Prayer lyrics and origins
Hail Mary is one of the oldest and most popular of the Catholic Marian prayers - Prayers to Mary, the mother of Jesus.
The Virgin Mary, or Madonna is portrayed in a variety of recurring symbolic themes throughout religious documents and illustrations in the Middle Ages.
The second half of the Hail Mary prayer "Holy Mary..." was added at sometime during the 16th century.

Good News For Catholics: Hail, Mary,
Mary suffered and, as it were, nearly died with her suffering Son; for the salvation of mankind she renounced her mother's rights and, as far as it depended on her, offered her Son to placate divine justice; so we may well say that she with Christ redeemed mankind.
Thus Mary, in a subordinate role to Christ, had a "part with him in the redemption of the human race."(8) She is, therefore, called by the Church the "the co-operatrix in man's redemption,"(9) "our coredemptor."(10) For at the cross, Mary triumphed "utterly over the ancient serpent."(11)
The Church claims that "Mary suffered and, as it were, nearly died with her suffering Son,"(23) that she "in her heart died with him, stabbed by the sword of sorrow."(24) But the fact of the matter is that Mary did not die on Calvary.

Hail Mary pass - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The typical Hail Mary is a very long forward pass thrown at or near the end of a half where there is no realistic possibility for any other play to work, though the most famous were thrown at the end of a game.
Although the Hail Mary has a low percentage chance of completion, it is generally a standard play in every playbook at the professional and college level.
The term "Hail Mary pass" is believed to have been coined by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach, referring to his desperation (and Catholic beliefs), for his game-winning touchdown pass in a December 28, 1975 NFC semifinal playoff game.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Hail Mary
The Hail Mary (sometimes called the "Angelical salutation", sometimes, from the first words in its Latin form, the "Ave Maria") is the most familiar of all the prayers used by the Universal Church in honour of our Blessed Lady.
The first, "Hail (Mary) full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women", embodies the words used by the Angel Gabriel in saluting the Blessed Virgin (Luke, I, 28).
This concept of the Hail Mary as a form of salutation explains in some measure the practice, which is certainly older than the epoch of St. Dominic, of repeating the greeting as many as 150 times in succession.

 "Hail Mary" - Part One
Since the same word is applied to Mary, the best that can be said about her is that as a result of having been bestowed grace, she also received forgiveness of her transgressions and thus was declared sinless due to her faith in the coming Messiah.
And finally, the "Hail Mary" is correct in quoting Elizabeth in saying Jesus is "blessed." In this case, "blessed" is being used in the same sense that Paul uses "blessed" in reference to God the Father.
Moreover, the stanzas in the second half of the "Hail Mary" are not taken from Scripture.

The Hail Mary reaches its high point in the words "blessed is the fruit of your/thy womb, Jesus." We detect two movements in this prayer which alternate with one another.

John Kerry has come under renewed criticism for raising the case of Mary Cheney, the lesbian daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, during a presidential debate.
The motive [for the drafting of Mary Cheney into the Kerry campaign] seems to be the vaguely cynical hope that Kerry could pit Cheney's own daughter against her father's ticket, that the controversy over the coming days would be: what does Mary Cheney think about her father's campaign?
A group of leftist "gay rights" activists have been trying to do this for a long time, demanding that Mary Cheney state her own views publicly -- demanding, in effect, that she denounce her father in public.
