New Hanover Township borders North Hanover Township, Wrightstown, Pemberton Township, and Ocean County.
In the township the population was spread out with 14.5% under the age of 18, 15.7% from 18 to 24, 55.4% from 25 to 44, 13.2% from 45 to 64, and 1.3% who were 65 years of age or older.
New Hanover Township is in the Third Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 30th Legislative District.

In pleading guilty, Wisnewski, the former Hainesport municipal Finance Officer, admitted her role in the scheme to divert public monies to the "Mayor's Fund." Wisnewski faces up to ten years in state prison, a fine of up to $150,000 and restitution.
Wisnewski, a Hainesport Township public employee since 1994, was arrested by New Jersey State Police detectives assigned to the Division of Criminal Justice - Special Prosecutions Bureau on Sept. 2.
The corruption investigation was conducted by New Jersey State Police Det. II Gerald Nachurski and Det. Thomas Goletz and State Investigator Kiersten Pentony assigned to the Special Prosecutions Bureau.

HAINESPORT — The state Department of Environmental Protection has given Winzinger Inc. a three-month extension to recycle concrete at a site on Marne Highway, but said Winzinger must get approval from Burlington County government to continue the operation permanently.
Hainesport filed suit in Superior Court in late March, claiming Winzinger was violating the terms of the permit by accepting unsorted construction debris and that the operation has a negative affect on residents.
Hainesport solicitor Ted Costa said Wednesday he would ask for the suit to be dismissed because the township was satisfied with the actions by the DEP.
