Hakusan is celebrated in the MAN'YOUSHUU 万葉集 which was compiled in the 8c, and the first oracle from the deity was said to have been recieved in 719 by Taichou, 泰澄, the founder of the cult (kaizan 開山).
The Hakusan Sansho Gongen 白山三所権現 may be the deities of the mountains (Bessan 別山, Gozenpou 御前峰, and Oonanjimine 大汝峰) whose Buddhist counterparts (*honjibutsu 本地仏) may be identified as *Shou Kannon 聖観音, *Juuichimen Kannon 十一面観音 and *Amida 阿弥陀, although they are sometimes vary.

The classrooms are very full (the average class size is around 40), everything is taught by lecture (that's the only teaching style they seem to use!), the rooms are heated by separate heating units and the rest of the school building is generally cool depending on the temp.
I was escorted to the music classroom and allowed to witness some recorder instruction by Sadaaki Ishizaki, President of Ishikawa Hakusan UNESCO Club.
His wife is a retired teacher (she sings and plays piano) and he knew that I taught music and wanted to make sure that I had a chance to visit the music room.
