Hakusensha (白泉社) is a publisher of manga and novels in Japan.
Originally a subdivision of Shueisha, Hakusensha split from them in the 1970s and became their own company, starting several manga magazines such as Hana to Yume, LaLa, and Young Animal and publishing several manga such as Glass Mask and Patalliro which have since become classics.
Hakusensha, along with Shueisha and Shogakukan among some other publishers, is owned by the Hitotsubashi Group, a conglomerate.

But I'm still pleased to see two potentially interesting Hakusensha anime adaptions, since both Gakuen Alice, Jyu-Oh-Sei and Ouran Hostclub seems to have turned out well (judging from 2-3 episodes of each).
My biggest dream would be to one day see a full adaption of Angel Sanctuary and Please Save My Earth, but I'm pretty sure that ship has already sailed...
Ah, but you can't blame Hakusensha for that one.

CMX takes the older stuff, some of them classics, and Viz takes the big names and the really popular stuff.
TP is probably just releasing the scraps left to them.
If you have any insight in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume-lineup, this is _so_ obvious.

 Yamagishi Ryouko
The collections of her titles have been published twice.
However, both "Yamagishi Ryouko Zenshuu" published by Kadokawa Shoten and "Yamagishi Ryouko Sakuhinshuu" published by Hakusensha are out of print.
Many of her titles written in the seventies are out of print and very hard to find.
