It was the first and only time he did Pooh.
In 1988's The New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh TV series, Jim Cummings took over as Pooh while Smith again played Owl.

Born in 1906, Hal played an elf onstage at age six, and went on to appear in dozens of classic TV shows, including Have Gun Will Travel, Perry Mason, Petticoat Junction, The Addams Family, Green Acres, The Odd Couple, The Brady Bunch and The Dukes of Hazzard.
Like a number of his Mayberry cast mates, Smith was a prolific voice actor as well, with parts in the animated programs Scooby-Doo, The Smurfs and Beauty and the Beast among countless others.
Smith died of heart failure in January 1994.

It's easy to see now why Smith had so much trouble getting "Dogma" made directly after "Clerks." The powers-that-be hated Mewes (idiots) and to finance "Dogma" would be to make Mewes a major star.

Character actor Hal Smith (born Harold John Smith) cut his acting teeth in various touring road companies.
(It was a different actor who appeared in the bit role of Anne Baxter's suitor in O. Henry's Full House [1952].) He spent most of the '50s playing guest stints and providing voice-overs for cartoon characters, and was briefly Hal the Bartender, a commercial spokesman for a popular brand of beer.
During the 1970s and '80s, Smith was most closely associated with Disney, replacing the late Vance "Pinto" Colvig as the voice of Goofy and providing voices for series ranging from Winnie the Pooh and Friends to Ducktales.

In the Gallery Players' production, the actors who played the grandparents did not particularly look Italian and had no Italian mannerisms, but they were endearing.
Neither the humor nor the sentimentality of Over the River and Through the Woods is subtle, which presents a challenge to the cast: their characters speak and act more like caricatures than real people, and the actors have to switch from broad humor to earnestness.

The episode is a sequel of sorts to "500" (with actor interviews and behind-the-scenes tidbits) and many are enjoying the new interviews and fun information.
The talk about Hal Smith is probably one of the best scenes in the episode.
It seemed rushed, the sound effects were a tad "off" (likely due to it being live) and it just had the feel of four or five actors sitting on stage in front of a live audience speaking into microphones.
