 Halesowen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The parish of Halesowen, which incorporated other townships later to become independent parishes, was an exclave of the county of Shropshire, but grew to become a town and was transferred to the jurisdiction of Worcestershire by the Counties (Detached Parts) Act 1844.
Most of the housing stock in Halesowen is privately owned and was built in the 30 years which followed the end of the Second World War, although some parts of the town are still made up of Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses.
Halesowen is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, in West Midlands, England.

Halesowen opened their pre-season with a pleasing draw against newly promoted Unibond Premier big spenders Alfreton Town in a re-match of January’s FA Trophy clash.
Halesowen ran the rule over a number of possibles by naming a completely different line-up for the second half and they took a 54th minute lead when manager’s son Kelvin Phillips split the Alfreton defence allowing ex-Sutton Coldfield striker Leon Mitchell to convert from 12 yards.

"HALESOWEN, a parish, post, and market town, partly in the lower division of the hundred of Halfshire, county Worcester, and partly in the Halesowen division of the hundred of Brimstree, county Salop, 7½ miles S.W. of Birmingham, 4½ E. of Stourbridge, and 5 S. of Dudley.
"CAKEMORE, a township in the parish of Halesowen, formerly in the hundred of Brimstree, in the county of Salop, but now in the hundred of Halfshire, in the county of Worcester, not far from Hales Owen."
The town of Halesowen is said to have been formerly a borough, though it does not appear to have returned members to parliament.

After long discussions with Manager Paul Holleran last night, when Ben was assured that he would remain part of the first team squad plans, Ben has decided to drop down a division to a guarantee of first team football and to continue his fight to regain full fitness.
Ben started 48 times for The Yeltz, scoring on 4 occasions, with another 47 times as substitute and leaves with the club’s best wishes for the future.

Tube-making was apparently brought to the town by George Selby, a lawyer and a partner in a tube-manufacturing concern, the Birmingham Patent Iron and Brass Tube Co., established in 1842.
The Birmingham Wagon Co. Ltd., which came to Smethwick in 1864 and became one of the most important employers in the town, was, unlike the firms already mentioned, completely dependent on the railways.
The lords of the manor were apparently inclosing the waste piecemeal from at least the 13th century: in 1278 Halesowen abbey granted a piece of the Smethwick waste to the rectors of Harborne.

There's not much to do in Halesowen really, of course there are many pubs in the town centre and the club house at the ground.
There is however a fairly large shopping complex in the town centre and the Merry Hill Shopping Centre is only 20 minutes away on a bus.
However with the demise of the mines Halesowen is home to many light industries, which have grown over the past 20 years or so.

According to the constituency tables, Halesowen and Rowley Regis is the seat the Conservatives must gain if they are to form another majority government after the next election.
