The Hallam Line is the name given to one of the rail services, operated by Northern Rail, in the West Yorkshire Metro area of northern England.
The line is named after the manor of Hallam which included Sheffield at the time of the Domesday Book (1086).
This is nowadays known as the Penistone Line.

The ECML is one of the busiest lines on the rail network and there is currently insufficient capacity on parts of the line to satisfy all the requirements of both passenger and freight operators.
