Don has been in touch with the following "While there have been rumors of just going ahead with a ninth movie in the Halloween series, such rumors have been trashed before.
Apparently, Dimension is interested in having series creator John Carpenter come back and work on a remake of the original film, which would mean recreating all the characters for the modern audience.

 Halloween: Resurrection
Rosenthal was the man responsible for Halloween II (MORE of the night HE came home) and that film introduced all of the series's dumbest elements--the relationship between Laurie and Michael being prime among them--in an attempt to explain away the first film's sense of mystery.
I presume that her presence in the film is pure contract fulfillment and that her fate is a means of escaping future installments.
In the first film, Michael's eyes were largely hidden, making his face a cipher and giving it something of the aspect of a shark, with its black, soulless eyes.

With its strong ties to the first film, this is a sequel that, with the benefit of 20+ years of hindsight, becomes necessary viewing to anyone who enjoyed and was terrifed by the first film.

Filming was wrapped in January of 1995, and shortly thereafter Donald Pleasence sadly passed away, having completed his final film, an installment of his most famous role.

I have seen most of the Halloween movies in a theater, witnessing the highs and lows of the series, and this is the lowest it can get.Any kind of mythos that were created about the shape(aka Michael Myers) are flushed in this so-called Ressurection.
The one good thing about Halloween 8 is Michael himself. This is the shape of old school and not the sublime shape we saw in H20.Kudos to the actor that played him this time.
It is 3 0r 4 years after the events in H20 and we get a bunch of lame-ass survivor wannabees, going to broadcast a reality show from inside the myers house, not realising that the shape has come home on Halloween Night. On Halloween Night! No really.

 Halloween II (1981)
Without them this film would just be as mindless and distant from the original as the rest of the series.
Jamie Lee Curtis doesn't do much in the film this time and spends a good majority of it cowering out of the way and mumbling but Donald Pleasance is still great as the slightly barmy Dr Loomis, waving his gun around and claiming to have shot Myers six times.
There is also an excellent little bit of a plot twist during this, in which this film and the previous one make complete sense (although the restored DVD version of the original does contain some extra scenes in which this is also revealed).

Halloween 2 uses the slow building tension and suspense from the first film, and adds in the gore, blood, and unique more explicite kills that the first movie lacked.

Carpenter's active involvement in the Halloween franchise continued to dwindle steadily from one sequel to the next, getting scarcely a mention by the time producers Hill, Moustapha Akkad and Irwin Yablans revived the series in 1988 for three more sequels.
As with its predecessor, this film was written and produced by Carpenter and Debra Hill, but the terse style and unbearable suspense of the first film are missing, replaced by a more simplistic stalk-and-slash scenario.
While John Carpenter's 1978 horror classic Halloween irrevocably changed the style of horror cinema with its simple but relentlessly tense story, it triggered more than a decade's worth of uninspired, exploitative knock-offs, and one could easily list Halloween II among these failures.

H20 took the approach of discarding everything that took place after HALLOWEEN II, which was risky but paid off (though it's a shame Danielle Harris was not appreciated for what she had done in HALLOWEEN 4 & 5 enough to earn a cameo in H20).
In press for the movie, Jamie Lee always mentioned how H20 was her "love-letter to the fans of the series", and that she wanted to participate in the end of Michael Myers, and felt that it WAS INDEED time to end it.

Though many continue to like HALLOWEEN 4, and credit it with reviving the series after the moribund HALLOWEEN III (as the series would be revived again with last summer's HALLOWEEN H20), I have to admit to never warming much to the fourth installment of the Myers saga.
A box office hit when released in 1988, HALLOWEEN 4 marks the first Halloween film without the participation (in some capacity) of John Carpenter and Debra Hill, who changed the face of the independent film scene and resuscitated the horror genre with the original back in 1978.
But, being a big fan of the mythos of the series, I wouldn't rate it that high in the Halloween legacy.

Stomp Tokyo Review - Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
Undoubtedly, the most important thing about Halloween 4 is its ending, which is probably the most creative and suprising ending ever filmed for the fourth film in a series.
Halloween 4 has seen its share of criticism at the hands of horror fans, but we feel that it deserves some credit for both maintaining the feel of the original film and for covering new territory with both new and old characters.
Because Halloween 3 did not take place within the Michael Myers storyline, the producers of Halloween 4 gave it a subtitle that leaves no room for misinterpretation: the inhuman killer with William Shatner's rubbery visage will indeed return to Haddonfield, The Small Town That Just Doesn't Learn.
