		Halloween (also known as John Carpenter's Halloween) is a 1978 independent horror film set in the fictional Midwest town of Haddonfield, Illinois, on Halloween.
		Halloween was produced on a budget of only $325,000 and grossed $47 million at the box office in the United States, making it one of the most successful independent films in history.
		The film was shown mostly in the European countries of France, the United Kingdom, West Germany, Italy, Sweden, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Yugoslavia, and Iceland.

		The theme is put to better use later in the series, but here it's repetitive and shrill and actually weakens the suspense at times when pure silence would have been more effective.
		I found myself appreciating the technical aspects of the movie (except the soundtrack) and the skillful way in which it suggests evil is always hiding just outside the frame, but I did not particularly enjoy it on a visceral level until the outstanding final act.

		If you head over to the official Halloween site, you'll see an interview Rob Zombie did which reveals what he will bring to the table and what fans can expect from the potential prequel/remake.
		The film would esssentially feature new characters and be "set around Michael’s real home ‘Smith’s Grove’, which is where the asylum was, some 150 miles away from Haddonfield."
