Triangular halos are used for representations of the Trinity.
Halos are found in Buddhist sculpture and painting from the Gandharan period, influenced by Greek artists brought to India with the army of Alexander the Great.
Some think the halo symbolizes the saint's consciousness as 'radiating' beyond the physical body, and that it serves as a pictorial reminder to the saint's devotees of the saint's transcendence of the physical body.

Some faithful believe the halo to be equivalent to the Eastern religion aura, and as with the latter, believe that halos are visible to those with perception.

A notable Pagan cross is the “ankh” or “crux ansata”, the religious symbol of the ancient Egyptians.
The cross was a religious symbol in the worship of Serapis, a composite of Osiris and Apis, and closely similar to primitive Christianity.
It was a combined sexual symbol, its two portions being the male and female aspects of Nature—the oval or upper portion the vulva, or yoni of the Hindus, and the lower portion or Tau—the Phallus, Priapus, Linga of the Hindus, Ashera of the Jews.

Symbols are intangible--the connection between the symbol and what it represents is abstract-- not something which can be seen, tasted, smelled, touched, or heard.
Thus man's adoption of abstract symbols for language at the time of Adam proved man's mind could now receive the abstract concept of the invisible reality of God--the invisible Essence who cannot be seen, heard, smelled, tasted, or touched, but Who is only accessible to he highest faculty of man--the conscious intellect.
