  What is Hamartiology?
Hamartiology deals with how sin originated, how it effect humanity, and what it will result in after death.
Hamartiology, then, explains why we miss the mark, how we miss the mark, and the consequences of missing the mark.
A key Scripture on Hamartiology is Romans 3:23-24, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."

 Hamartiology and Gun Control -NRA
Hamartiology is the study of the doctrine of sin.
It is a classic example of an environmentalist hamartiology: we reduce sin or its effects by altering man's environment.

Secondly, because of this sin, everyone has a sinful nature and is unable to do spiritual good.
It severs the relationship with God; it sometimes severs the relationship with other people; and many times an entire society has to deal with the consequences of one person’s sin.

So Close and Yet So Far: A Comparison of John Wesley & Ellen G. White on Perfection
Because perfection, by its very nature involves what is possible, the precursor issue of what sin is (hamartiology) in the teachings of Wesley and White is necessarily touched upon.
Thus we conclude that Wesley presents a confused hamartiology, which blurs important distinctions because it assigns guilt to temptation in some situations.
White's hamartiology is a glue in an interwoven and self-consistent system.
