		CAREY is a native of Franklin County, Ohio, and one of the oldest residents of this township.
		This enterprising farmer was born September 22, 1839, is a native of this township, and son of William and Elizabeth (Reed) Hunter, natives of Pennsylvania and Delaware respectively.
		The father died in 1827; the mother with her children moved to this County in 1828, and died in Crawford Township in 1845, leaving the farm to her son, Charles M., who added to the same and gave his attention to general agriculture and the raising of fine sheep, in which he was quite successful.

		Hamden Slough NWR when fully restored, will provide the largest contiguous block of wetland - prairie habitat in the region contaning nearly 6000 acres.
		This IBA has 75% of Minnesota Horned grebe records, 14% of the Wilson’s phalaropes, 13% of the Yellow rails, as well as Marbled godwits, Short-eared owls, American bitterns, Upland sandpipers and Nelson’s sharp-tailed sparrows.
		The IBA incorporates the riparian corridor and adjacent river valley and upland communtities along the Minnesota River from the Scott/LeSueur County line to the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers at the eastern most part of Fort Snelling State Park.

		Burial was at Augustana Lutheran Church Cemetery in Midway Township.
		She is survived by her two sons Henry (Barbara Lake) Pohl of Escondidas, Calif. and Wilt (Annette) Pohl of Proctor, granddaughter Caitlin of Proctor, a sister Marty (Fred) Hirsch of Hamden, Conn. and her soul mate of 30 years Vince Madigan.
