P'yŏng'an dialect is the standard dialect in North Korea, and is spoken in P'yŏngyang, the P'yŏng'an region, and Chagang Province.
Gangwon dialect is used in Gangwon Province in South Korea and neighbouring Kangwŏn Province in North Korea.
Hamgyŏng dialect is used in the Hamgyŏng region and Ryanggang Province of North Korea.

This North Hamgyong about another challenge that I dont wish to talk about too much right now, (maybe next article!) and that is the fact that we are North Hamgyong totally conscious in the present North Hamgyong.
If we truly understood the significance of every North Hamgyong and every North Hamgyong we interact with in our lives, we might start to see life as something special and magical-even in everyday situations, and the idea that every North Hamgyong we have is an opportunity to learn more about the world and ourselves.

The standard language (Pyojuneo or Pyojunmal) of South Korea is based on the dialect of the area around Seoul, and the standard for North Korea is based on the dialect spoken around P'yongyang.
These dialects are similar, and in fact all dialects except that of Jeju Island are largely mutually intelligible.
There is a very close connection between the dialects of Korean and the regions of Korea, since the boundaries of both are largely determined by mountains and seas.

In the case of verbs like teW- 'hot', chwuW- 'cold', etc., such a treatment yields a spelling that coincides perfectly with the way these verbs are actually pronounced in Hamkyeng dialects, the form(s) of Korean which dominated in Russian terrirtory.
E.g., tepta, tepe, tepessta, tepumyen, etc. >Now that you know this was Chwunwen, and he was not from Hamgyong province >but from P'yongan province, would you modify your conclusions?
It would be hard to prove that those ideas went all the way back to Yi Kwangswu and the Tayhanin Cyengkyopo (though not out of the question).
