The Hamilton Steelhawks were a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League from 1984 to 1988.
The franchise which started in Hamilton in 1953, twice left Hamilton for lack of an adequate arena but returned for the opening of Copps Coliseum.
However the team was not well-supported, and played for only four seasons in Hamilton before moving to Niagara Falls, Ontario to play as the Thunder.

Just when it seemed that Junior hockey was dead in St. Catharines, the Hamilton Fincups (1976 Memorial Cup Champions), moved to St. Catharines.
Fincups owners, Ron and Mario Cupido and Joe Finochio, were forced to find a new home because the ice‑making equipment at the ancient Hamilton Forum had broken down.
At the end of the season, the owners moved the team back to Hamilton and the Garden City has been without a Junior ‘A’ franchise ever since.

A highlight of Hamilton's 8-4 win in game three was Joe Contini's three goals in 1:10 to set a Memorial Cup record that still stands today.
In the final the Fincups recorded a 5-2 win to bring Hamilton its first Memorial Cup title since 1962 when the Red Wings defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Big Willie Huber began his major junior career playing for the Hamilton Fincups of the OHA in 1975-76 and was on the team's roster when it won the Memorial Cup championship that year with the likes of Dale McCourt, Ric Seiling, Al Secord, and Al Jensen leading the way.

About as blunt as a slap shot, the outspoken Templeton was the undisputed boss of the dressing room in Hamilton, in North Bay and in many points beyond during a career that spanned more than a quarter-century.
Born in Scotland, Templeton's family moved to Hamilton when he was a young man. He wasn't blessed with natural hockey ability, but his pugnacious, disciplined approach made his stand out enough that he earned a tryout with the Detroit Red Wings, said former North Bay Centennials marketing man John McLellan.
Templeton's Hamilton Fincups won the Memorial Cup in 1976 and were silver medallists at the 1977 world junior, and the Centennials won the '94 OHL title.
