  Labrador - LoveToKnow 1911
The valley of the Hamilton river is the greatest, forms a continuation of the valley of the Inlet and extends 300 m.
The peninsula is formed largely of crystalline schists and gneisses associated with granites and other igneous rocks, all of archaean age; there are also large areas of non-fossiliferous, stratified limestones, cherts, shales and iron ores, the unaltered equivalents of part of the schists and gneisses.
The northern boundary of the province of Quebec follows the East Main river to its source in Patamisk lake, thence by a line due east to the Ashuanipi branch of the Hamilton river; it then follows that river and Hamilton Inlet to the coast area under the jurisdiction of Newfoundland.

In face of these facts it is difficult to believe that the distribution of this species in Hamilton Inlet is limited by a salinity of 15, and further investigation may be expected to reveal its widespread occurrence west of the Narrows, wherever there are shores suitable for it.
I have disproved this contention by showing that the species specially selected to illustrate it are found elsewhere in water of salinity as low as, or lower than, that of the Hamilton Inlet west of the Narrows.
The most striking feature of his report is the absence of any positive evidence as to the nature of the fauna and flora of the Hamilton Inlet west of the Narrows ; he does not record a single animal that he has obtained, nor one completely aquatic plant that he has found in this area.

Hamilton's waterborne waste particularly affected the ecology of the shallow inlets along the harbor's southern shore.
All Hamilton residents now suffer from the limits of the planners' visions, which legitimated the development of their city as a particular kind of industrial port, but the working-class citizens who live, work, and play near the water's edge suffer the most.

Hamilton, Alexander - ENCYCLOPEDIA - The History Channel UK
He was the illegitimate son of James Hamilton (of a prominent Scottish family) and Rachel Faucett Lavien (daughter of a doctor-planter on Nevis and the estranged wife of a merchant).
Hamilton was a well-to-do lawyer and banker (he helped to found the Bank of New York), and his own high connections aroused suspicion among the less conservative; his policies alienated agrarian interests and drew opposition from those who feared concentration of power in the federal government.
Hamilton was perhaps the most powerful of the Federalists, but he was not in complete command of the party (he had even resigned his cabinet post in 1795, largely for financial reasons).

Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse, Florida at Lighthousefriends.com
The tract of land on which the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse stands was once part of large land grant awarded by the English Crown to Wills Hills, the Earl of Hillsborough, who served as Britain’s Secretary of State for the Colonies from 1768 — 1772.
It was theorized that a stranger, seen in the area recently, had taken the rowboat, forcing Hamilton to swim the inlet.
As Hamilton was an excellent swimmer, it is believed that alligators, whose tracks were noted by Hamilton’s friends, must have been responsible for his disappearance.

The key to the high efficiency is having a constant demand for hot water, thus a constant supply of cold enough water to keep it in the condensing mode.
Inlet water temperatures of 100¡F or higher will not provide the means of condensing, so the use of recirculating systems must be carefully studied.
This style of water heater is not rated by the American Gas Association, however manufacturers claim efficiencies of up to 100%.

The existence of the Dorset people may have disappeared before the Inuits arrived in Labrador, according to the archeologists, or the Inuit may have destroyed them or driven them out.
Even though the nations had no permanent settlement south of Hamilton Inlet, the archeologists know that the Inuit sometimes journeyed to the Strait of Belle Isle to trade, hunt and raid camps of European fishermen, including the 16th century Basque (Portuguese) whaling stations.
Apparently they had some contact with European explorers and whaling ships along the northern coast, but this did affect their way of life to the extent that it did in the later years, (Labrador Inuit Association, 1977).
