The funding, part of the new Economic Development Initiative (EDI), was inserted into the FY 2001 housing appropriations law (P.L. 106—377, Departments of Veterans Affairs and Housing and Urban Development, and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act) at Smith’s request and approved by Congress late last year.
Mercer County officials are expected to receive official documents from the Department of Housing and Urban Development this week.
Providing sufficient programs and facilities for Mercer’s seniors, many of whom worked their entire lives in the County, is a sacred obligation that must be honored by all branches of government,” said Smith.

HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY — Adrien Urbani and Michael Apgar recently received a $2,000 college scholarship after completing the requirements of the Youth in Medicine Endowment Program of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton Foundation, funded by the Fruscione Foundation.
The Youth in Medicine Endowment Program was established in 1996 and is open to students who are Hamilton residents in their junior year of high school, either at a Hamilton Township high school, or at private and independent schools in Mercer County.
The RWJ Hamilton Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that raises funds to support various program and facility needs throughout Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton.
