Hammersmith is an urban centre in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham in London, approximately 5 miles (8km) west of Charing Cross on the north bank of the River Thames.
Hammersmith's office activity takes place mainly to the eastern side of its centre, along Hammersmith Road and in the Ark, an architecturally-unique office complex to the south of the flyover which traverses the area.
Hammersmith Broadway, itself, stretches from the junction of Queen Caroline Street and King Street in the west to the juncion of Hammersmith Road and Butterwick in the east.

With total gridlock widely predicted when Hammersmith Flyover closes, Hounslow Council is seeking to introduce a range of emergency measures to mitigate the chaos.
Transport for London (TfL) is to close the Hammersmith Flyover on the A4 arterial route for up to three weeks in August for resurfacing and the installation of a new drainage system.
The flyover will be completely closed for the duration of the works and TfL's contract allows for 24 hour 7 days per week working with the aim of reopening the A4 as quickly as possible.

Traffic cops with a laser detector are regularly lurking in a car on the slip road just before where the flyover descends going westbound (parked dangerously on the white line hatching).
Incorrect use of speed does kill, which is why the current cynical approach by local councils and some police forces (not all) is so annoying.
