Hampshire County is a county located in the state of Massachusetts.
In the county the population is spread out with 19.60% under the age of 18, 19.30% from 18 to 24, 26.80% from 25 to 44, 22.20% from 45 to 64, and 12.00% who are 65 years of age or older.
Hampshire County is notable for the presence within its borders of the "five colleges," comprising the University of Massachusetts flagship campus and four well-known private colleges:

Cyrus Ford wrote a letter on 25 February 1842 to a Lewis Ford in Cummington, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, in which he requests that Lewis Ford raise $1,500 to $1,800 by disposing of "the farm" that spring, either by sale or lease.
That the parcel was not actually rectangular was due to the topography of the land: the crest of Cedar Glenn extends slightly into the southwest corner of Hundred Acre Lot 405, and a variance in the alignment of Cedar Road cuts off a small triangular piece of land.
In 1891 this latter road was known as either the North-South County Road, or Streator Road, and marked the eastern terminus of Cedar Road.

He was born in Belcher, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, in 1813 and was one of the early converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
As a settler in Jackson County, Missouri, in the mid-1830s, he was caught up in the so-called Mormon War of 1838, in which Missourians acting under an "extermination order" issued by Governor Lilburn W. Boggs drove the Mormons from the state.
It was during this turbulent period that Rockwell became identified with the "Danites," a band of Mormon stalwarts who organized for the defense of fellow church members against their antagonists.
