Hampton Loade railway station is a station on the Severn Valley Railway heritage line, close to the hamlet of Hampton on the western bank of the River Severn; Hampton Loade itself is on the eastern bank, and may be reached by a chain ferry across the river.
The station has been used as the filming location for many films and TV programmes, including The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain and Mad Dogs, a 1970s serial.
Hampton Loade is the present home of Barry Railway coach 163 currently undergoing restoration from scrap.

However, it was saved for preservation and was removed from Clent on 21st April 1992 and arrived at Hampton Loade on the 25th April 1992.
The SR underframe arrived at Hampton Loade on 24/2/2001 and prepared for taking the body in a relatively short time but sadly had to wait until 16/8/2003 before the body and underframe were eventually united, thanks to the volunteers of the SVR Bridgnorth crane crew.
The coach is now stabled on a truncated siding prepared for the purpose and since the uniting of body and underframe work has included the fitting of vacuum brake gear – since tested and proved to function although not certified as operational.

This completed the work at Hampton Loade although an overhaul of the point rodding was carried out in 1982 and the box rewired in 1983.
Hampton Loade is normally switched out at the end of the train service once up and down trains have arrived at Highley and Bridgnorth.
This is done with the cooperation of the other signalmen and releases the locking to allow signals to be cleared in both directions and switches bell communication through from Bridgnorth to Highley on 'long section' working.

At the start of a days duty the first action is often to let an engine off shed either to go on its train (in the platform or in the sidings) or to allow it to travel south as a "light engine" move to collect its train.
The latter 'box will be required to be open if trains are booked to cross at Hampton Loade or if the timetable dictates the need for a shorter section.
