He has served as a member of the county and state central committee of his party, and as a pioneer of this region, he assisted in organizing Ontario township, Hand county, and was chairman of the board of supervisors for many years.

Weeks was born in Herkimer county, New York, on the 29th of March, 1821, being a son of Levi and Jane (Hollenbeck) Weeks, of whose twelve children the subject is the only representative in South Dakota.
In the same year, 1859, he removed to Illinois and located in Ogle county, where he purchased a farm of one hundred and sixty acres, upon which he continued to reside until 1883, when he came to what is now the state of South Dakota, having previously sold his farm in Illinois.
He is one of the most successful farmers and stock raisers of the county and as a man and citizen commands the most unqualified esteem in the community.
