Handley Page also paid for the development of what soon became known as the Handley Page Slat (or slot), a small channel cut into the leading edge of the wing to improve airflow at high angles of attack.
One of the final notable Handley Page designs was the Jetstream, this was a small commuter turboprop aircraft, with a pressurised cabin and a passenger capacity of 12 to 18.
Handley Page's design brilliance was manifested first in the 0/400 heavy bomber that flew in 1917 and later in the V/1500.

Fire in a Handley Page Harrow
This series of photographs details the damage to a Handley Page Harrow which appears to have returned safely to base following a fire that removed much of the fabric covering on the fuselage.
If that were the case, the Harrow may have belonged to 93 Squadron which formed at Middle Wallop from 420 Flight in 1940.
The inside of this Harrow doesn't really look suitable for transport duties which suggests the aircraft was still in use as a bomber.

 Handley Page Harrow
The Handley Page Harrow was a twin engined heavy bomber developed during the early part of the RAF’s 1930s expansion.
Even with the turrets, the Harrow was not well armed, with two.303in guns in the rear turret and one in each of the dorsal and nose turrets.
The Harrow had a short front line career as a bomber, being replaced by the Whitley and Wellington before the outbreak of war.

 Handley Page - Aircraft - H.P.54
It should be acknowledged, however, that although the two designs were to the same basic specification the Handley Page H.P.54, subsequently named Harrow, was intended for initial use as an interim bomber/trainer and later, when more advanced bombers were in quantity production, as a transport aircraft.
Handley Page had initiated a new method of production for the Harrow, which enabled components to be manufactured by small firms under sub-contract, offering advantages both in construction and repair.
Harrow production terminated with the 100th example in December 1937, but aircraft remained in service until the late stages of World War 2.
