Topic: Hang Hau

  Tin Hau
Tin Hau is often associated with Taoism; however, strictly speaking she is neither a Taoist nor Buddhist deity.
Hong Kong has numerous temples dedicated to Tin Hau, normally located by the sea (or at least where the sea used to be before reclamation) and no doubt there will be many devotees celebrating her birthday on 20 April.
This temple was built and dedicated to Tin Hau by two brothers who were saved from drowning by praying to the goddess and clinging to her statue.

Tsui Hang Hau village seemed to be entirely occupied by expatriates, many of whom no doubt own the boats we saw in the harbour.
Whether you are intending to follow the path right to the end of the peninsula or not, it is worth climbing the short distance to first hill top for the views of Sharp Island (Kiu Tsui Chau) to the east, which cannot be seen from the Trio Beach path.
Once over the hilltop, we found ourselves on a rough path which descended to sea level and then began to rise again, skirting the east side of the hill which is the high point of the peninsula at 114 m.
