 Sensei's Library: Hankuk Kiwon
Recently, the Hankuk Kiwon started a promotion campaign to spread baduk beyond the Korean borders.
Among others, the Hankuk Kiwon has published a guidebook, featuring the Korean version of the rules, Korean go terms explained, an overview of titles and titleholders, an overview of the officials and professional players, and a few briefly commented games.
Steve: Can anyone post info on how professional promotion works at the Hankuk Kiwon, as well as the requirements on becoming a professional, and the insei system used.

Cho came to Japan in 1937 to become a disciple of Kitani Minoru and he returned home in 1943.
Cho founded the Hanguk Kiwon (Korean Go Association) in September 1955.
By the turn of the century, the number of professional players who were members had increased to around 170; they competed for prize money in around 15 tournaments sponsored by newspapers and other organizations.

Yi Se-tol took his second international title and fulfilled his long time ambition by beating Yi Ch’ang-ho in the 3rd and 4th game, for a total of 3-1.
This earns him also promotion to 6d (was 3d before), according to the new Hanguk Kiwon Dan Promotion System.
