Hank is loosely based on a combination of Larry Lund's Leaping Loafer and a design called 'Body Slinger.' I can't remember where the Body Slinger came from and unfortuantely never bookmarked it.
Hank is built right into the chair using PVC pipe (you can see some if on the front of the chair) and a piece of scrap wood screwed to the back of the chair (you can see that along the floor in the back).
Hank's skeleton is all PVC based with the actuator (bicycle pump) attaced at the base of his 'spine'.
