Roberts has a record forthcoming on Munich-based contemporary jazz and improvised music label Winter & Winter, which was previously known as JMT Records, on which Roberts released many records in the late 80s and early 90s.
Hank Roberts: Well, I grew up in a town where there was a university and a couple of small colleges, so it was a combination of a very rural community and also one where there was some importance for the arts.

The story of Shelby Roberts is woven with that of Marietta Wilk, a New Yorker she met in Nashville a year ago, and Vicky Clarke, a Botetourt native who heard Roberts sing at a cancer benefit this May and soon became her promoter.
So Roberts sang Hank Williams' "Your Cheating Heart," and it was the first time she put words to music in public and the first time she felt that "lovely sick feeling." It is a feeling that she cannot compare to anything.
Roberts gave Clarke an album she made earlier this year called "Missing Dreams." Roberts made that album in February, after performing at a benefit for a woman who had bone cancer.

Roberts allows his cello to shine on “Intro to Gabriel.” The instrumental portion of “Here Forever” was a pleasant blend of melodic tones, but was somewhat lost with the vocals.
Roberts does get bonus points for his desire to cut a CD that approaches the subjects of political injustice and the need for world peace.

Commissioned to create music for a book project on the German painter Gerhard Richter, guitarist Bill Frisell opened his book of guitar techniques to enhance the painter's art.
Given instructions and eight Richter images, Frisell composed pieces for the 858 Strings Trio of Jenny Scheinman, Eyvind Kang, and Hank Roberts, a unit which can be heard on Frisell's 2004 release, Unspeakable.
These eight pieces were recorded live in the studio without overdubs, remixing or post-production change.
