		Bill Hanna began his workin' years at a California engineering firm and it wasn't until 1930 that he decided to take a job in cartooning.
		In 1937, both Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera joined the team of cartoonists at MGM studios in Hollywood, where they were paired up to work on a little cartoon about a cat and mouse duo called Tom and Jerry.
		Hanna and Barbera went on to create over 100 Tom and Jerry cartoons and continued on as a drawing/producing team for the rest of their careers.

		William Hanna studied to become a structural engineer but had to drop out of college with the onset of the Depression.
		When the MGM animation unit was established in 1937, Hanna became one of its first staff members and directed many of the Captain and the Kids cartons in 1938-39, together with William Allen.
		There is no artistic reason why Hanna and Barbera, who proved themselves very talented craftsmen during their halcyon days at MGM, could not have used limited animation to better effect than they have in all their days as independent producers.
