Hanns Heinz Ewers (November 3, 1871, Düsseldorf - June 12, 1943, Berlin) was a German actor, poet, philosopher, and writer of short stories and novels.
A world traveller, Ewers was in South America at the outbreak of World War I, and relocated to the United States, where he was interned upon the American entry into the war in 1917.
Indeed, Ewers is still considered by many a major figure in the evolution of the horror literary genre, cited as a major influence by no less than H.P. Lovecraft.

Thanks, first of all, for joining this mailing-list, which should be a first step towards the eventual foundation of a "real" Hanns Heinz Ewers Gesellschaft dedicated to the promotion of the works of this sadly almost forgotten author.
There was a time in Germany and much of Europe and America as well when Ewers needed no introduction, when in fact he was the best-selling and most widely translated author.
Another planned US Ewers edition may or may not be happening, again details will be posted here.
