		All residents of Eshbal took one year out between high-school and enlisting in the army - Shnat Sherut - during which they worked in Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed around the country, living in the movement's communes, volunteering in the community and learning how to live independently.
		Members of Eshbal who are formally still soldiers are not allowed to work in profit-making employment, so they volunteer in special needs communities in the area (Arab youth, Ethiopian youth and so on).
