		Florine is a 40-year old speed climber and motivational speaker, and he just kicked ass at the U.S. National Climbing Championships, held at Mission Cliffs in San Francisco.
		I first took note of Florine a while back, when I came across his insane list of the 40 challenges he took on to celebrate his 40th birthday last year (so far he has knocked off 21).
		Florine is a nut, but a nut who has unlimited energy and lives life as if he is decades younger than he really is. Not a bad example...

		In 1998, Hans Florine and Nancy Feagin climb the Nose and Reg Route on Half Dome in 23:30; Feagin becomes the first woman to repeat this classic 1986 Bachar-Croft enchainment.
		In 2001, Hans Florine and Tommy Caldwell showed that the 1992 NiaD record of 4:22 was not out of reach: they clocked the second fastest time ever at 4:31.
		El Cap was first climbed three times in one day in 1994 by Florine and Schneider: the pair climbed the Nose (5:42), the West Face (4:31), and Lurking Fear (8:52), using fixed ropes for descent, and pre-caching water.

		Hans Florine has set a new speed-solo record for The Nose on El Capitan, climbing the Yosemite route in 11 hours 41 minutes.
		Florine also holds the speed record on The Nose of 2 hours 48 minutes, set with Yuji Hirayama in 2002.
		Florine used a combination of techniques for his trip up El Cap including self-belayed leading, unroped soloing and “Metroviching” — a term created after Russ Mitrovich speed-soloed Zodiac without a rope, using daisy chains to stay clipped to at least two pieces at all times.
