		Hans-Gerhard Creutzfeldt est né le 2 juin 1885 à; Harbourg sur l'Elbe, près de Hambourg, il est le fils du médecin Otto Creutzfeldt.
		Creutzfeldt avait peu de sympathie pour le régime Nazi et sauva la vie de quelques personnes dans les camps de concentration.
		Creutzfeldt publia en 1920 le cas de Bertha Elschker, une femme née en 1890 et qui est décédée en 1913 après avoir souffert d'une maladie du système nerveux qui dura autour de dix-huit mois.

		Hans Gerhard Creutzfeldt was born into a medical family in Harburg, which was incorporated into Hamburg in 1937.
		After returning to Germany, Creutzfeldt worked at the St. Georg Krankenhaus in Hamburg, at the neurological institute in Frankfurt, and at the psychiatric-neurological clinics in Breslau, Kiel and Berlin, and at the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Psychiatrie in Munich.
		Creutzfeldt was 54 years of age when the Second World War broke out.
