Reiser's estranged wife Nina Reiser, a Russian-born Jewish doctor studying to become an OB/GYN, was reported missing in early September of 2006.
The two were in the midst of acrimonious divorce proceedings, and Nina Reiser had obtained a temporary restraining order against Hans in December of 2004 after he allegedly pushed her.
Reiser was arraigned on Thursday, October 12, where he delayed entering a plea until his next court appearance on November 28.

This is a really terrible situation all around, for Hans, for his wife and her loved ones, and perhaps most of all for their children.
Always when a person dissappears their spouse or other close family member is a prime suspect and given the legal stuff going on it's pretty much a given that they would arrest him (if there is the slightest bit of evidence) and get warrents and such to search his home and other such things.
For Hans, I hope he is innocent and I hope his ex-wife is ok but if she isnt I hope justice is served.

I'm guessing that Hans Reiser's comment was not so much about never changing stable code (I bet ReiserFS changed at least a little between 2.4.x and 2.6.x, and you always have to fix bugs) as about not making major design changes to supposedly stable code...

Hans insists - and I'm sort of generalizing here - that the details can be sorted out, but right now we should go with Reiser4 and not worry about making it anything but a great fs.
Reiser may be a genius, but even geniuses have to (*gasp*) live in the real world and negotiate with real people.
Well, the complaint that Hans Reiser has against WinFS is that not everything is a file, rather files is a special case mapping down to NTFS streams.
