After Grable's star began to flicker out in the mid 1950's, she began focusing on her Broadway career (which was also helping to pay the bills, when she went broke due to gambling debts and mismanagement of her finances), where she would remain until her death from lung cancer at aged fifty-six, in 1973.
She and Mildred Turner were great friends and whether they stayed in touch throughout the years is unknown, though Gladys did put in an appearance at Lana's wedding to millionaire Bob Topping in April of 1948.
Although Lana Turner could afford the worlds most costliest beauty creams (and even endorsed one or two), she swore by this stuff and used it each and every night before she went to bed.

Hanson uses Webers definition of charisma both to assert that the initial relationship between Umar and his followers was charismatic, and to consider why this no longer remained the case for Umar in 1859, or was ever the case for Amadu Sheku, Umars son and named successor.
Hanson argues that the presence of constitutive terms in the sources, terms which make assertions based on assumptions and linguistic conventions, has left a legacy of assumptions about the Umarian community that is reflected in contemporary scholarship.
Hanson partially answers this through a discussion of material motivations, but it is unclear whether any elements of charisma remained for the Umarians who arrived in Segu.

Hanson can resolve this conundrum of who was loyal by paying a visit to the office of the senior Senator of Hawaii: Japanese-American, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, and infantry soldier who left a limb on the killing fields of World War II fighting for his country.
Hanson, by contrast, suggests that the Liberal obsession with World War II revisionism and the alleged faults of the United States have resulted in the diminution of appreciation for the Axis' killing of innocent civilians.
Hanson's other non-sequiturs and illogicalities: his seeming dismissal of the Chinese contribution (the implication that the PRC's butchering its citizens after the war somehow negates the Chinese role in winning it) ignores the fact that the bulk of the Japanese Army was tied up in China throughout the war.
