Manuc's Inn (Romanian: HanulluiManuc) is the oldest operating hotel building in Bucharest, Romania; it also houses a restaurant, several bars, a cake shop, and (facing the street) several stores; its massive, multiply balconied courtyard hosts many performances and fairs and is a popular place for Romanian television crews to shoot folkloric performances.
The building is located at 62 Iuliu Maniu street, across the street from the ruins of the Old Court (Curtea Veche).
Although Manuc's Inn has been subject to repeated restorations — in 1848, 1863, 1966-1970, and 1991–1992 — its essential structure remains intact; of the three surviving 19th century inns in the Lipscani district, it is the only one currently in use as a hotel.

The European Commissioner for Regional Politics, Danuta Hubner, Bucharest mayor Adriean Videanu and the head of the European Commission's Delegation to Romania, Jonathan Scheele, yesterday visited the historic center of Bucharest.
Starting their visit from the HanulluiManuc restaurant, the three officials walked down Lipscani street, and stopped in front of monuments such as the Curtea Veche buildings and the Stavropoleos Church.
While the three were having a coffee in a bar in the area, the Bucharest mayor showed his guests his plan to renovate the city's historic center.
Originally styled to the honor of the architecture of the Moldova famous monasteries, it was unfortunately ruined in 1984-85 when the concrete casing that now stands gloomily in the shadow of the InterContinental Hotel was placed over the earlier structure.

Quite famous for their smart atmosphere and service were such restaurants as Capsa, Continental or Boulevard.
Highly popular for their culinary specialities were "HanulluiManuc" (Manuc's Inn,) "Caru cu Bere" and "Gambrinus," where one of the most popular Romanian gastronomic specialities, the "mititei," was born!

One of Bucharest's most beautiful, historic buildings situated in the Lipscani District of the city centre.
HanulluiManuc (Manuc's Inn) is an old coaching inn with a central arcaded courtyard surrounding by elegantly carved balconies.
Service in the very touristy courtyard restaurant is dreadful, but there are so many decent traditional restaurants in the surrounding historic centre of Bucharest (Hanul Hangitei, Casa cu Bere etc) that this doesn't matter.

Bucharest, the capital city of Romania, is an exquisite mixture of old and new, as you can find modern skyscrapers right next to 500-year-old churches.
It has everything, from the hustle of financial markets, to popular vacation getaways (like Snagov lake), to legendary places (like "HanulluiManuc").
Known as "Little Paris" between the two World Wars and after 50 years of communism, Bucharest is still searching for its place.
Also in Bucharest a must see is Curtea Veche (sec.
HanulluiManuc (1808) - the restaurant should be good too (and these two are very close).
If you go south of Bucharest, there are these villages with strange looking 'palaces' built by gypsies that are labeled as extremely kitschy but sort of interesting (pagoda meets 'the crib').
This review should be named "A taste of history" but that's not because of the historical building in which this restaurant is located (building which has its own charm and it's worth a short stop to take a picture of it).
If you would like to see service the way it was during communist Romania than Manuc's Inn is the place for you.
The waiters here are like dinosaurs left from another time, whose race disappeared more than 10 years ago.

It was actually the Patriarch Miron Cristea who dreamed to achieve the project in one of Bucharest's most traditional and significant sites.
One of the oldest buildings in Bucharest, which once played host to all kinds of heroes and villains in its days as a caravanserai, this place is still pulling in the crowds with its good value rooms.
There are a few decent, but by no means cheap, exotic restaurants -- even Japanese or Korean food can be found, at prices comparable to those in the US -- but as a short term visitor, that is not what Bucharest is about.
Two of the city's most famous old restaurants -- the HanulluiManuc and the Caru' cu Bere -- have relatively undistinguished food, high prices likely to be made more so by overcharging, and indifferent service.
Nonetheless, they are undeniably atmospheric, which is why they get away with this.
