  University of Hawaii Delegation Strengthens Ties with Korea
A delegation of University of Hawai‘i administrators are in Korea this week attending a series of events that will help build upon the university’s relationships with universities and organizations throughout the country as well as help reconnect with UH alumni in the region.
Inha University, the premier university in the Inchon area, was established in 1954 as the Institute of Technology, in part through funds from Koreans living in Hawai‘i.
The university’s first contact with UH was in 1995 when, in seeking to internationalize and globalize itself, Chung-Ang University selected UH as an institutional model, visited the UH Manoa campus and met with senior administrators.

For the past year the University of Maryland A.J. Clark School Department of Mechanical Engineering has been developing a collaboration with the College of Engineering and ME Department at Hanyang University, one of the top engineering schools in Korea.
Professor Jae-Eung Oh, the Provost at Hanyang University in Korea, initiated this collaboration between the two universities.
While in Hanyang, Dr. Bar-Cohen also met briefly with Professor Chong Yang Kim, the President of Hanyang University, who voiced strong support for this Agreement and future collaboration with Maryland in education and research.
