		Although no longer forested, the valley is still a haven for a few animals and birds that remain, but as the development of the land continues fewer and fewer of these may find it a safe and happy environment in which to live.
		Most of the farmers in Happy Valley brought their produce into Portland in the Lents area to the many markets on Foster Avenue where they either sold them for cash or traded them for the things they needed, such as sugar, salt, coffee, and articles of clothing not made at home.
