Sydney Harbour Bridge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of the major landmarks of Sydney, Australia, connecting the Sydney central business district (CBD) with the North Shore commercial and residential areas, both of which are located on Sydney Harbour.
A museum and tourist centre with a lookout of the harbour is in the southern east pylon.
The eastern-most southbound lanes (which continue over the Cahill Expressway after leaving the bridge) have their tollbooths at the northern end of the bridge, with the remainder being at the southern end of the bridge.

The document continues: With regards to the proposed expressway and the request to exempt it from an environmental assessment, it should be remembered that the assessment process carried out in the 1970s and 1980s on an earlier version of part of this roadway paid little attention to the impact of the project on Hamilton Harbour.
In 1991, an Environment Canada profile of the Hamilton Harbour ecosystem (Robinson and Schaefer) predicted that the earlier version of the expressway "could destroy substantial amounts of green parkland" and that the "remainder of the natural greenbelt in the Creek ravine will also be drastically altered by the introduction of noise pollution and car exhaust.
In addition, the actual construction process associated with the proposed expressway, which is expected to extend over a period of years, poses a serious threat of increased erosion and sedimentation with deleterious effects on Hamilton Harbour.

Motorists driving alone on the new four-lane harbour expressway should pay a higher toll than if they have passengers, the regional council says.
In its submission, Environment BOP said it appreciated the need to balance toll revenue against achieving optimal use of the roading network - but it suspected that optimal use was based on vehicle numbers rather than people moved.
He said Harbour Link had a significant benefit to the region and "if you liken it to a river scheme then the (regional) council could provide 10 per cent (of the cost)".
