Harbourfront is a waterfront tourist, residential and cultural real estate development on the northern shore of Lake Ontario within the downtown core of the city of Toronto, Canada.
Harbourfront is the site of the Toronto Islands ferry terminal which provides transportation services to the Islands, and the location of Harbourfront Centre, one of the city's many cultural venues.
Plans to redevelop Harbourfront as part of the redeveleopment of the greater Toronto Waterfront, many of which included the demolition and burying of the Gardiner Expressway, have been mired in the proposal and planning phases for many years.

The HarbourFront MRT station (NE1/CC29) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station between the North East Line and the Circle Line in Singapore.
HarbourFront Station is next to the HarbourFront Centre and the future VivoCity, and is connected to Sentosa by cable car.
The HarbourFront MRT Station also provides public transport to the prominent tourist destination of Mount Faber, of which HarbourFront lies in its shadow, and lies within the Bukit Merah planning area.

 Harbourfront
In 1979 Harbourfront introduced the Molson Jazz Festival (incorporated into the du Maurier Downtown Jazz festival in 1987) and for many years has mounted concerts to celebrate St-Jean-Baptiste Day and Canada Day, the former occasion providing Toronto with a rare opportunity to hear French-Canadian performers.
Harbourfront stages or grounds also have been used by outside organizations - eg, ARRAYMUSIC, the COC, COMUS Music Theatre, Mariposa folk festival, YMC, the Toronto Folk Festival (1980), and the Toronto International Festival (1984).

 Harbourfront Parks and Open Space System
The entire Harbourfront area was created by lakefilling in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and was used initially for shipping and industrial activities.
Remants of Harbourfront's built heritage remain today, and include the Pier 4 and Pier 6 buildings on John Quay, which represent a style of architecture that dominated the waterfront during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Harbourfront is anchored to the east by the old Terminal Warehouse (now incorporating commercial/residential uses), and to the west by the Canada Malting silos, awaiting adaptive reuse.

I disagree with the assessment of Harbourfront given by the nominee.
Harbourfront has some impressive spaces within its boundaries but lacks cohesiveness along the water and has poor pedestrian connections to the city because of the Gardiner Expressway.
There are visions for the Harbourfront that could make the water a great attraction for the city, but they have not been implemented.
