The blood supply to the palate is derived form the internal maxillary artery: the greater palatine supplies the hard palate, and the lesser palatine the soft palate.
In cleft palate, the levator attaches anteriorly to the hard palate and often is hypoplastic, and the tensor may end at the hamulus, or insert into the lateral velum.

In 1921 Sir Harold Gillies wrote "close the lip early and repair the palate prior to speech." He also recommend the closure of the soft palate at an early age to allow the maxillary growth.
Although the early repair of the hard palate does result in scar tissue formation and limitation of the maxillary growth most of the surgeons close hard and soft palate before 18 months of age.

I thought maybe it was from the flu since I vomited during this episode.
I do know that in addition to the mouth ulcers on the hard palate, I periodically do get flare ups of herpes simplex on my lips.
I also have recurrent problems with carpal tunnel, sometimes severe, plantar fascitis, and now have developed a neuroma on the bottom of my foot; sometimes I have various peripheal neuropathies; are these things related....would a neurologist be able to help me with some or all of these problems.
