Unfortunately for Hardap, their coach Ali Akan was asked to leave the bench as he was accused of using abusive language, and before that, attacking midfielder Deon Goeieman was red-carded for a dangerous tackle.
The match was destined to end in favour of Hardap because of their lead, but Karas had different intentions just two minutes before the final whistle.

Short-term insurance companies are considering not to cover flood victims in the Hardap region's irrigation scheme and the central business district of Mariental after the opening of sluices at Namibia's biggest dam caused damage to property and crops amounting to millions of Namibian dollars.
Meanwhile, the area manager of the Hollard Insurance Company in the Hardap region, Pieter von Williegh, told New Era that his company stands ready to pay out claims to clients who were properly insured at the time of the flooding.
He said one of the solutions would be to erect a retainer wall in the Fish River to regulate the flow of water south of the Hardap Dam.

Many of the dams in central Namibia are part of the Eastern National Water Carrier and act as storage reservoirs for a canal (not operational) running from the Okavango River to Windhoek.
The FFI occassionally stocks selected state dams using fingerlings produced at its Hardap hatchery (17 earthen ponds, circular cement outdoor tanks, and 60 small heated indoor tanks).
There is some discussion of moving FFI from Hardap to northern Namibia to be closer to the freshwater resources.

With the construction of the Hardap Dam in 1962, irrigation farming on a considerable scale was introduced to the area causing an upswing for the town of Mariental.
The Hardap Dam is the biggest of its kind in Namibia with a water surface area of about 25 sqkms and an 862 metre long dam wall.
It dams up the waters of the Fish River, the only river in the country's interior that flows just about all year round, although carrying very low quantities of water during the dry season.

The Hardap Dam was first proposed in 1897 by German geologist Dr Theodor Rehbock but it took a number of surveys and a further 63 years before construction began on what is now Namibia's largest dam.
The name Hardap derives from the Nama word meaning "nipple" or "wart", which is how the surrounding area of low conical-shaped hills appeared to the early inhabitants.
